Special Feature:   Microsoft Outlook - Forwarding Emails

Question:  I would like to forward several emails at once.  Can I attach more than one email I have received to one email I want to send out? I am using Outlook Express.

Answer:
Yes, you can.  Open a new email in Outlook Express and position this window and the Inbox window next to each other.  (See the link below to learn how to size and move windows)

Drag the e-mail you want to attach from your Outlook Express Inbox window to the new email window.  To do this, in the list of emails, point to the email you want to add to the new email, hold down the left mouse button, and drag to the new mail window.  Release the button when the mouse pointer is in the new window.

You can add as many emails as you want.  Drag each email you want to add to this new email window.

Today's Topic:   Insert Sounds in Email

Question:  My granddaughter sends me emails with sounds in them.  How does she do this?

Answer:
In Microsoft Outlook, open a new message.  click Format on the menu, point to Background and then click Sound.  (If Background is not available, click RichText (HTML); click Format on the menu again)

Click the Browse button and maneuver to the folder where your sound is located.  Click on it to select it.  Change the settings and click the OK button.

Address and send the email as usual.

Newer versions of America Online have the ability to send sounds in emails; however, you can only add the sounds they have available.  There is no feature to add your own sounds.

To add sounds in AOL, open a new email and click the Sounds button on the email toolbar.  A navigation pane will appear on the right side of the email.  Choose a category, subcategory and sound.  Click the Insert button.  Address and send the email as usual.

Question:  America Online - See if Someone Read Your E-mail

I use AOL.  Can I check if the recipient read an email I sent?

Answer:
You can check the status of emails sent only to other AOL members.

To do so, sign on to AOL and Open the mailbox.  Click the Sent Mail tab.  Click once on the email you would like to check and then click the Status button on the bottom of your mailbox.

The Status window will open indicating if the email was read and, if so, the date and time it was read.

To close the Status window, click the X button.

Question:  Homepage Hijacking

I had Internet Explorer set to go right to my Yahoo mail when I open the program.  Now it opens at a different website.  How can I change it back?

Answer:
You can easily change your Homepage.  That is the website that appears when you open Internet Explorer.

To do so, open the site you would like to use for your Homepage.  Click Tools on the menu and then Internet Options.  In the Homepage area of the Internet Options window, click the Use Current button.  Click the OK button.

Homepage changes are one of the warning signs that your computer has been infected with spyware.  To learn more about spyware and how to protect your computer and your personal information, visit our newsletter archives:
