Using Links

A Link is a reference to a website. In this newsletter you will see links to
many worthwhile, informative and fun websites.  Here are the instructions on
how to use links:

A link will be used one of two ways, depending on your email program.

If you see the link in blue, underlined text, all you have to do is click on
it and a window with the Website in it will automatically appear on your
screen.

If you see the link in plain text, you can copy and paste it into the address
bar on your browser.  Highlight the link with your mouse, click Edit up on
the menu bar, and then click Copy from the menu that you just opened up.  Open
your browser (click the Start Button, point to Programs, click on Internet
Explorer); click on the address bar.  Click Edit up on the menu bar, and then
click Paste from the menu that you just opened up.  Press the Enter key on the
keyboard and this will take you to the Website.

Special Feature:   Ctrl Alt Del When the Keyboard Does Not Work

Question:  I often use the keyboard combination Ctrl+Alt+Del to end a program that has stopped responding.  The other day, however, my computer stopped responding and so did the keyboard.  Since I could not use Ctrl+Alt+Del, I pressed the on button to turn it off.  Is there a better way?

Answer:
If the mouse is still working, you can right-click on the taskbar and select Task Manager from the resulting menu.

Tips & Tricks:     Scroll to Change Web Page Font Size

You can quickly change the font size on a webpage if you have a scroll mouse and Windows XP. Here is how:

Hold down the Ctrl key on your keyboard

Scroll down with the mouse scroll wheel (roll the wheel towards you) to enlarge the font size.  Or, Scroll up with the mouse scroll wheel to reduce the font size.

Release the Ctrl key when you are done.

Try this in other programs, too.  You may note that the scroll direction can differ from program to program.

Today's Topic:   Alphabetize your Start Menu Programs

Question:  I would like the programs that are in the start menu to be in alphabetical order. Is there a way to do this? Thanks. I love your newsletter and have learned many things from it.

Answer:
Yes there is a way.

Click on Start and point to Programs.

In the Programs menu, right click on any item in that list.  From the resulting menu, left click on Sort by Name

Now your menu will be in alphabetical order.

This works in Windows 98, ME and XP.
