Special Feature: The F4 key
See that row of keys across the top of your keyboard? Those are called the Function Keys. Each key has a different task assigned to it, and, with the use of the modifier keys (shift, alt, ctrl) there are even more tasks.
The F4 key is used to close things. If you want to close a program, make sure it is the one up front and then hold down the Alt key and then press the F4 key.
If you are using one program that has several open documents in it, for example, Microsoft Word, bring the document you want to close to the front, hold down the Ctrl key and press F4.
You can also use F4 to turn the computer off. Close all open programs, hold down the Alt key and then press F4. This will display the Turn off computer box. Click the Turn off button and you are done.

Tips & Tricks: Microsoft Word Word Count
Question: Can Microsoft Word count the number of words in a document, without me having to actually count each?
Answer: Yes, it can count them for you. Click Tools on the menu and then Word Count. The Word Count window will show you the number of words, lines, paragraphs and pages. You will also see the number of characters with and without spaces. If you like, you can include footnotes in your count. And, if this is a feature you use all the time, you can display a toolbar to make it quicker to access this info.

Today's Topic: Scan Downloaded Files
Question: Sometimes I see programs on the Internet that I would like to download, like card games. How do I know if these are safe or not?
Answer: When you download a file you should scan it for viruses. You can do this without doing an entire system scan. Here is how:
Maneuver to the folder that the file is in. Right click on the file. From the resulting menu, left click on Scan with antivirus program (note: either the name of your antivirus program will appear or Scan for Viruses).
Your Anti Virus program will open, scan the file, and inform you of any infections.
