Today's Featured Computer Term: Insertion Point
In graphics-based programs, the insertion point is the point where the next characters typed from the keyboard will appear on the display screen. The insertion point is usually represented by a blinking vertical line.
You can reposition the insertion point by pressing the arrow keys on the keyboard, also know as the Insertion Point Movement Keys, or by moving the I-beam pointer to the desired location and pressing the left mouse button.

Today's Topic: Checking Disk Space
Before you are about to save a large file or install a new program, it is helpful to know how much storage space is available on your disk. Windows provides two ways to determine free disk space.
Method 1: 1 - Double left-click the My Computer icon on the Windows Desktop 2 - Click the hard drive icon (usually the C: drive) and select Properties from the File menu 3 - A pie chart graph will display the used and free space on your drive. Free is pink, used is blue.
Method 2: 1 - Double left-click the My Computer icon 2 - Select Details from the view menu 3 - You will see a columnar list. The last two columns are Total Disk Size and Free Space.
It is highly recommended that the hard disk always has at least 25% of free space.

Progressive Learning Series: Printing in Windows
There are several ways to print a document in Windows. If the document is already open, just open the application's File menu and choose Print.
If your computer can print from several different printers, you can choose which printer to use from the Name drop-down list box. All pages are printed by default, but you can also print just the current page (click the Current Page option button), or pages that you specify (click the Pages option button and enter the page numbers in the text box to its right). If you want to print more than a single copy of your document, simply specify how many copies you want in the Number of Copies box.
Another way to print is to click the Print button on your application's toolbar, if it has one. When you give the Print command using a Print button on an application toolbar, Windows usually sends a single copy of your document to the printer, without displaying a dialog box or giving you a chance to give any other commands.
You can also print documents that are not currently open. To do this, find and open the folder that contains the document (you can do this either in Explorer or in a folder window). After you find the file you want to print, open the File menu and choose Print.
