Special Feature: Identity Theft on the Internet – Protect Yourself
Tip # 4 Never Click on Pop Up Advertising Windows
When browsing the web, you may get messages in a pop up window telling you your Internet Security is at risk. Very frequently, hackers use this method to get spyware into your computer. This kind of spyware is usually used for identity theft.
Never click on a pop up window. Close it immediately using the Close button (X) in the top right corner.
Most web browsers will have a feature to disable or block pop ups. Make sure your pop up blocker is turned on. Here are the steps for Internet Explorer 7:
Click Tools on the right side of the toolbar. Point to Pop up blocker. A menu will display to the side; if it says Turn on pop up blocker, click on it. this will disable pop ups. If it says Turn off pop up blocker, pop ups are already disabled and you need to do nothing (press the Esc key to close the menus you opened).

Question: Windows Vista: Removing Desktop Icons
I found your tip last week on creating desktop icons to be very useful and I have created several for my favorite programs. My problem is too many icons. My new computer came with so many icons on the desktop that I know I will never use. How can I remove them?
Answer: To remove an icon from your desktop, follow these steps:
Right click on the icon that you would like to remove. A menu will open, click Delete.
A window will open asking if you want to move the icon to the Recycle bin. Click the Yes button.
The icon will no longer be on your desktop. If you want to open that program, you can still do so by finding it in the Start menu.
