Special Feature:   Getting a Good Printed Picture

Question:  The pictures I take with my digital camera look good on the camera screen and the computer screen, but they do not look very good when I print them.  Is there something I should be doing?

Answer:
Some inkjet printers leave a lot to be desired, but here are some things you can do to increase the quality of your prints:

To make adjustments to your printer, click the Start button, open Control Panel, open Printers, right-click on your printer, and then click Properties.  Every printer is different, so once you are viewing your printers property window, you may have to click around to find the settings we are going to discuss in this article.

Use the highest quality setting that is available on your printer.  You should see draft, medium, high or similar terms.  Choose the highest.

Use photo paper made for inkjet printers.  Photo quality paper produces better results than ordinary printer paper.

If you try these suggestions and you are still unhappy with the results, you may want to check into photo printers.  Many color inkjet printers are not designed for the high quality needed to print good photographs.

Today's Topic:   Close Preview Pane in Outlook

Question: When I receive e-mail from someone I do not know, I know I should not open it because it might contain viruses.  But when I highlight to delete the email, it opens up below. How can I select it without it opening?

Answer:
First of all, make sure you have a good antivirus program installed and make sure you keep it updated. This will prevent your system from becoming infected with viruses.

Secondly, turn off the auto preview in Outlook Express. Then you’ll be able to click on the email to delete it without it opening in the preview pane.

You can do this by clicking on View on the menu bar, then on Layout. You will then see the Window Layout Properties dialog. In the bottom half of the window, there is a section for Preview Pane. Just remove the check mark in front of Show preview pane by clicking on it and then click OK.

From then on you will have to double click on your messages to open them.

Question:   Rename Multiple Files

Question:  When I transfer all my pictures from my camera to my computer, they have numbered filenames, which I change to make them recognizable.  What I would like to know is if I can change all of them, all at once.

Answer:
Yes, you can.  All of the files will be named in sequence using the filename that you chose. For example, beachvacation1, beachvacation2, etc.  Here are the steps:

Open the folder containing files that you want to rename.

Select the files you want to rename.  Click File on the menu, and then click Rename.  Type in the new name, and then press Enter on the keyboard.
