Using Links
A Link is a reference to a website. In this newsletter you will see links to many worthwhile, informative and fun websites. Here are the instructions on how to use links:
A link will be used one of two ways, depending on your email program.
If you see the link in blue, underlined text, all you have to do is click on it and a window with the Website in it will automatically appear on your screen.
If you see the link in plain text, you can copy and paste it into the address bar on your browser. Highlight the link with your mouse, click Edit up on the menu bar, and then click Copy from the menu that you just opened up. Open your browser (click the Start Button, point to Programs, click on Internet Explorer); click on the address bar. Click Edit up on the menu bar, and then click Paste from the menu that you just opened up. Press the Enter key on the keyboard and this will take you to the Website.

Special Feature: Spell Check Your E-mails
Question: How can I spell check my emails?
Answer: Type your message.
Look for Spell Check. Depending on what program you are using for your email, the location of spell check may vary. Look in the email menu for a button with a checkmark and abc in it; or, look through the menus for spell check.
Once started, spell check checks your message. If an error is found, the spell-checking window appears, explains the error, and suggests corrections for it.
In the spell-checking window, click the misspelled word, type in your corrections (or select one of the words from the Suggestions list), and click Replace.
Close the spell checking window.

Special Feature: For the Left Handed
If you are left-handed, then a mouse click can be a challenge.
Ergonomically designed mice generally favor the right-handed, but for people who are left handed and don’t want to use their right hands to work the mouse, mice are not too user friendly.
It is possible to change the clicking options of mice so that the click is driven from the left-hander's index finger. To do this, open the control panel and select the mouse icon. Under the buttons tab is the option to alternate your mouse buttons. Now you can click with the index finger.

Keyboard Shortcut: Display the Context Menu
Right click on just about anything and you will display a context menu. This is a list of commands that you can give to the object you just right clicked on. If you prefer to use keyboard shortcuts, the context menu can be displayed with Shift F10. Hold down the Shift key, press and release the F10 key, release the Shift key.

Question: Delete Junk Email Quickly
I get a lot of junk email mixed in with emails I want to keep. If I want to delete these, it seems I have to do them individually. Is there a way to take blocks of items and delete them all at once?
Answer: You can select a group of items by clicking on the first one, hold down the shift key and click on the last one. All e-mails between the two you clicked on will be highlighted.
You can also select several at one time by holding down the ctrl key while you click on each message you want to delete.

Question: Deleting Favorites
I don't know how to delete some of my favorites. I have too many for websites that I don’t visit anymore and would like to delete the old ones.
Answer: all you have to do is right click on a favorite and then, from the shortcut menu that appears, click on Delete. Depending on the version of Windows and Internet Explorer that you’re using, you may then see a dialog box asking you if you are sure you want to send this to the Recycle Bin. Click Yes or OK, and that will remove the Favorite.
