Special Feature: See Pictures Before You Insert in Email
You've probably attached a picture to an email and have been faced with a lot of file names. Wouldn't it be nice to see the picture before you insert it?
You can. Here are the steps:
Open a new email and click Insert or Attach as you usually do. In the window that displays, right click on a blank area in the middle where the filenames are.
From the resulting menu, left click on View and then Thumbnails. Now you will see small versions of your pictures. Scroll to find the picture you want and click it to select it.
Note: This tip works in Windows ME and XP.

Featured Computer Term: Partition
Question: What does it mean to partition the hard drive?
Answer: When a hard drive is partitioned, it is divided into isolated sections where each partition will act as an individual hard drive.
There are several reasons why a hard drive would be partitioned. You may want to set up a partition for files that you're going to copy to a CD or you may want to run two operating systems, Windows 98 and XP, for example.
Note: Partitioning erases everything on your hard drive. Do not partition your hard drive unless you have backed up all important files and are prepared to reinstall all your software.
Is there a computer term or phrase that you'd like to see an explanation of? Email it to info@computerkindergarten.com and we'll put the term and its definition in an upcoming newsletter.

Today's Topic: Script Debugging
Question: What is script debugging? I occasionally get an error message that pops up on a website asking me if I want to debug script errors. I click No and it goes away. Am I doing the correct thing?
Answer: Yes, you are doing the right thing by clicking No.
The Microsoft Script Debugger lets you test scripts developed using an ActiveX script engine. It lets you view and modify program source code, variables, and values, or control the flow and pace of how the script works.
You have no idea what any of this means, right? You wouldn’t, unless you are a programmer and are interested in fixing errors on someone else's web page.
To stop receiving this error message, you can shut the Script Debugger off. Here is how:
Open Internet Explorer. Click Tools on the menu and then Internet Options. Click the Advanced tab. Under "Browsing, click to place a check next to Disable script debugging. Click the OK button.

Question: Delete Email Without Opening
Question: Is there a way to delete email in Outlook Express without having to open them?
Answer: Yes, but it is not the default setting. That means you have to change it. Which you should do anyway, because you do not want to open an email from a spammer or one that could potentially contain a virus.
You are going to turn off Preview. Here are the steps:
Click View on the menu and then Layout. Click to remove the checkmark next to Show Preview Pane. Click the OK button.
To delete an email, click on it to select it. You will now see that the email does not open. Click Edit on the menu and then click Delete.
