Using Links
A Link is a reference to a website. In this newsletter you will see links to many worthwhile, informative and fun websites. Here are the instructions on how to use links:
A link will be used one of two ways, depending on your email program.
If you see the link in blue, underlined text, all you have to do is click on it and a window with the Website in it will automatically appear on your screen.
If you see the link in plain text, you can copy and paste it into the address bar on your browser. Highlight the link with your mouse, click Edit up on the menu bar, and then click Copy from the menu that you just opened up. Open your browser (click the Start Button, point to Programs, click on Internet Explorer); click on the address bar. Click Edit up on the menu bar, and then click Paste from the menu that you just opened up. Press the Enter key on the keyboard and this will take you to the Website.

Special Feature: The Windows Key
Take a look at your keyboard - you will notice a key with the Windows logo on it; usually found between your Ctrl and Alt keys.
You might not have paid any attention to this key before; or maybe you wondered what it does. This new key could represent a big improvement in the way you work with your computer because, among other things, it automatically activates the Windows Start menu. Give it a try
Press the Windows key. The Start menu appears. Now you can use the arrow keys on the keyboard to move up and down the Start menu until you've highlighted the choice you want; then press Enter. Use your right or left arrow to move into submenus.
Using this key, you can get to any program or recently saved document on your computer, without moving your hands from the keyboard.
You can learn more keyboard shortcuts at our website: http://stsico.com/html/kbshortcuts.html

Today's Topic: Burn Your Own CDs
If you are using Windows XP, you might not need to buy expensive CD-recording software. Windows XP comes with built in CD burning software that may meet your basic needs.
When you insert a blank CDR disk in your CDRW drive, Windows XP will ask you if you want to open a writable CD folder. Just click OK.
This folder is a place for you to store files that you want to put on a CD. You can copy files to this folder by dragging and dropping in Windows Explorer.
When you are ready to write these files on your CD, look on the left side of the CD folder window and click on Write these files to CD.

Question: Save Emails to Floppy Disks
How do I save an email to a floppy disk?
Answer: Just like any file, saving important e-mails to a floppy disk is a good idea. Here’s how:
While viewing the e-mail that you want to save, click on File on the menu and then Save. You will get the Save Message or Save As dialog box.
In the Save in field, click the small down arrow to display the drop down list, and select 3 ½ floppy A:
In the File name box, type a name for the e-mail message
In the Save as type field, you can either save it as an e-mail message, or as a text file. If you choose text file, they take up less space and can be read in any text program.
Click Save and you are done.
