Today's Featured Computer Term: Peripheral Devices
A peripheral device is any external device attached to a computer. It is any computer device that is not part of the essential computer (the processor, memory, and data paths) but is situated relatively close by.
Examples of peripherals include printers, disk drives, display monitors, keyboards, mice and scanners, attached by a wired or wireless connection.

Today's Topic: Getting Help in Dialog Boxes
A dialog box is a window that appears on the screen to request input when you have given a command.
There's no need to wonder what to do when you're looking at a dialog box with all those unfamiliar options. The context-sensitive help will give you details and a description of any object in the dialog box.
Look for a small question mark at the right corner on the title bar. Click the question mark and then click on an object to get a quick explanation of how it works and what you can do with it.
If the question mark icon isn't available, try this: point to an option and then click the right mouse button. It doesn't work with every dialog box in every program, but you'll be pleasantly surprised at how often this help option is available. |
