Archive/Delete Old Files
If you have long lists of files that you have to look through to find what you want, you’re wasting time! Files take up room on the hard drive, which can slow you and the computer down. We can remove or archive old files that you don’t need or use anymore. Then they won’t be in your way or in your computer’s way.
Clean the Computer
Dust and pet hair can harm your computer. Dust can get into the fan and other components and can potentially be a fire hazard. Dust and pet hair can also get inside the mouse and clog up the gears. We will open up the computer and remove all dust and grime, clean the monitor screen with special cleaner and clean the mouse gears. Firewall
Without a firewall, hackers can get into your computer, look at your personal information, and hijack your computer for their own use. We will install a firewall that will keep hackers out.
Recycle Bin
The Recycle Bin holds files and other things that are marked for deletion. We will analyze the contents to determine what should be deleted or restored and empty the Recycle Bin.
Virus Scan
Viruses can cause irreparable damage to your system. We will run a virus scan and update your virus protection program if necessary. (A registered upgrade for your virus protection is included in the price of this service. Norton Symantec or McAffee only)
Spyware
Spyware is a new kind of menace that most virus protection programs don’t find. Spyware sends personal information about you and your surfing habits to advertisers, marketers and others. We will install a spyware blocking program and train you in its use.
Pop Up Blocker
Internet Pop Up Ads are annoying and closing them can take up all of our time. We will install a pop up blocking program and train you in its use.
Cookies
Cookies can clog up your system and slow your connection down. We will remove all cookies from your computer.
Bookmarks and Favorites
We will analyze and delete Bookmarks and Favorites which point to websites that no longer exist or that you are no longer interested in.
Browser Cache and Temporary Internet Files
These are big time savers when you’re surfing the ‘Net, but these temporary Internet files can add up and monopolize significant space on your hard drive. We will remove all Temporary Internet Files from your system and clear browser cache.
Email
If you use Outlook, Outlook Express or America Online for your email, we will show you how to use message rules and mail controls to stop junk email. We will set up a free email account for you to use for internet activities that may put your address on junk mailer’s lists.
Programs
Programs take up a lot of disk space. If there are programs that you do not use, we will remove them.
Disk Cleanup
We will do a disk cleanup and remove all junk, temporary and fragmented files.
Windows Components
We will do an analysis of installed Windows components and remove unnecessary and unused ones.
Defragmentation
File Fragmentation occurs naturally when you use a disk: creating, deleting, and modifying files, but it can slow down the speed at which data is accessed because the disk drive must search through different parts of the disk to put together a single file. We will defrag your computer’s hard disk.
Disk Space
We will show you how to check available disk space so you will know when your computer needs to be maintained.
Desktop Icons
Unused icons can clutter up the desktop and get in the way. We will remove any that you don’t need or use.
Startup Programs
Windows has a feature where programs can startup automatically when you turn on the computer. Some programs do this without your permission. We will analyze all startup programs to determine what can be removed to improve your computer’s startup time.
Currently Running Processes
In Windows XP, running processes can use a lot of memory and drastically decrease your computer’s performance. We will analyze running processes and remove any unnecessary ones.
